"Shine On You Crazy Diamond" is a nine-part composition that serves as both the opening and closing tracks to the 1975 Pink Floyd album Wish You Were Here. It was written in tribute to former frontman Syd Barrett who had been ousted from the band nearly seven years earlier in 1968 due to apparent mental issues.
